Planet Earth: the toilet with nowhere to flush

My brother David sent me this link, warning that it would be upsetting:

He was not wrong. It turns out that every piece of plastic that has even been made still exists today, somewhere on the planet, unless it was incinerated...every piece of plastic that doesn't go into a "proper" landfill eventually washes out to sea and winds up in giant cesspools of high pressure, churning into such unbelievable dumps, chafing into tinier and tinier pieces that are ingested by tiny fish, who are ingested by larger ones and on up the food chain till we are all eating plastic...

and they are finding these pockets of sledge in every ocean...
