So. Today we met with the understatedly fabulous Erika Bowman (legs, left) and video-ed an "energy audit" in a really crap section of town in a really crap domicile with a really sick girl, and then interviewed Justin, a mechanical engineer over at Pitt who is working on a filament called Halfion that is supposed to create energy when it is flexed by running water...way over my head but we got to tape him as the sink overflowed on his experiment.
And tomorrow is officially Day 1 of Your Environmental Road Trip!
We're driving "Lorraine" (temporary tag - noone else will decide what to call the car and I cannot say YERTmobile even one time) over to Rachel Carson's homestead in the hopes that she will be honored and will take us on as her environmental charges, be our Angel...Then we will take video and head to the Point to interview random Pittsburgh folks for the 4th of July, Ben wearing the Uncle Sam outfit lent by the Sierra Club. We are hoping Ben's able to pull out his Pittsburgh dialect for Uncle Sam for the big send-off...
Ben finally got word from Apple that the harddrive on his laptop is what crashed and that he will have to pay $$$ if he wants the harddrive rescued :( Poor Ben.
...and oh yeah as of about an hour ago, we suddenly have no more website developer: dude totally bailed. Don't know the details but we are basically going to be putting the website up as a blog for at least the first few weeks all on our own. YIPES. I want chocolate. :) Poor Mark.
So I just shaved my husband's shoulders and packed some more things that we will not be taking with us. Mark and Ben are on the phone commiserating and supporting each other in the hope that we can do this all ourselves...and I really think we can. Or maybe someone will jump in to help, too? Rachel? Anyone? I'm going to bed and dreaming about it...
