k i am signing in just to say that we logged some miles today and are resting in Shawnee on Delaware with Ben's wonderful Aunt Lyn and Uncle Bill before heading out tomorrow for the Live Earth concert at Giants Stadium.
And we averaged 34 mpg. Not bad for a hybrid SUV.
We got some decent B-roll footage and I took some video from my little Canon of the boys and of the Pennsylvania countryside passing by...and the stuffed Lemur donated by Xeko on the dash.
We stopped at a sort of Farmer's Market in Ephrata, PA, called Green Dragon where we bought a quart of the finest blueberries I have ever eaten off a really sweet Amish farmer who was thrilled to tumble them out into our tupperware. We ate inside the main building at a little "Pennsylvania Dutch" diner where the waitress was similarly pleased to fill up our thermoses with birch beer from the fountain, and to bring us amazing homemade blueberry crumble a la mode. I became enamored of some beautiful patched overalls (photo, left) but this trip is not about purchasing, a photo will have to do. (sigh).
Meanwhile - I am so happy that people are commenting on this blogsite! This is what we have to do - talk and discuss and share ideas! It just sucks to learn that Planktos' ideas for geoengineering may actually be quite harmful to the environment, that their plan to seed the oceans near Galapagos with iron nanoparticles has certainly not been fleshed out enough to warrant a large scale experiment on fragile seas.
Why are we trying to combat climate change by further changing ecosystems that are already delicately balanced??
Well, we will do further research and ask even more questions...and will let you know what we find out.
cheers.
